About the Event

The United Nations passed Resolution 69/131 in 2014 with a resounding endorsement of 175 member states to declare June 21 as the International Day of YOGA (IDY). Since then, IDY is celebrated globally to encourage people to benefit from Yoga for a healthier life. In Sanskrit, Yoga means union of body and consciousness. In practical terms, Yoga is a pathway for good health, wellness, meditation and a way of life. We are grateful to the UAE government for always being supportive of promoting Yoga. Last year, His Highness Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan was the Chief Guest at a grand event on 21 June at the iconic Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi with participation of over 5,500 people of different faiths and nationalities. Also, IDY was celebrated at the Louvre Abu Dhabi Museum and was streamed live across the globe. This year the marquee event of the 9th International Day of Yoga will be celebrated on June 21, 2023, at ADNEC in association with ADSC. The celebration will be a brief Yoga Orientation session of about one hour led by global Yoga experts and is designed to be suitable for all ages, whether they be novice enthusiasts or expert practitioners.
