H.H. Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Sports Council, instructed to honor Arab champions who won accolades at Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
The honoring ceremony will be held during the third edition of Abu Dhabi Tour 2017. This Tour will take place in the period 23-26 February 2017.
Instructions of Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan came after the wide positive responses to the file published by Etihad Arabic Daily to document the achievements of Arab champions at the 2016 Olympic Games.
As known, 14 medals were won by Arab countries in Rio 2016, in addition to two unaccounted for gold medals won by Kuwait. Kuwait’s two medals were not counted due to IOC suspension.
The two gold, four silver and 8 bronze medals were won by athletes from: Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, Algeria, Qatar, Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco and the UAE. Medals are won in eight different sport disciplines.
