H.E Dr. Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, Chairman of the Department of Community Development, said hosting the 13th edition of the Indian Premier Cricket League is an important step in promoting rapprochement between the two countries. He said sports is a global language and a message of love and communication between global societies that the UAE and Abu Dhabi chose to host this event in particular after the postponement of the sporting events in India due to the global pandemic.
“The UAE was able to manage and overcome the current crisis conditions, moving forward with steady health and safety precautionary measures,” he added.
“The sports sector plays a fundamental role in organizing community clubs and sports institutions, and the Department of Community Development is looking forward to building a tolerant and incubating community.
“All sports are welcome in the community of Abu Dhabi, in order to create an active and responsible community by building a culture of physical health. Indians in the UAE constitute the largest part of the population of the country, and cricket is the most popular sport among them.”
