Sheikh Khalid bin Faisal Al Qasimi, the Abu Dhabi Race Team leader, took fourth spot in the Jordan Baja, the seventh and final round of the FIA World Cross Country Bajas, in Aqaba on Saturday.

Sheikh Khalid behind the wheels of his Peugeot 3008DKR along with Frenchman Xavier Pansieir as navigator finished fifth on the opening day and then improved a place over the next two days to finish fourth overall.

The Abu Dhabi Race Team leader’s chances of finishing in a better position ran into problems after suffering navigational difficulties on Day 2 and further trouble with the turbo devices on the final day.

Sheikh Khalid pointed out to those malfunctions in the devices as the reason to lose time between him and his rivals nevertheless he was satisfied with the overall result.

“The participation of the Abu Dhabi Racing Team in the Baja Jordan Rally 2019 is good compared to the few entries in the 'Baja' races throughout the year,” he said.

“We consider what has been achieved as a good preparation for the upcoming Dakar Rally in January.

“The Jordan event had a huge presence of world champions specialising in the Baja races and obviously strong competition among the participants to reach the podium.

“I thank the members of the Abu Dhabi Racing Team and support staff for the excellent work and the backing they provided me throughout the three days of competition.”
