The Abu Dhabi Football Clubs tournament as part of the preparation for the new 2010-2021 season and organised by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC) kicks off on Saturday in Al Ain.
The quadrangular made up of first teams of Al Ain, Al Dhafra, Al Wahda and Baniyas is worked off in a league format across three days from August 22 to 28.
Al Ain meet Al Dhafra in the opener at the Hazza bin Zayed stadium and Al Wahda face Baniyas at the Khalifa bin Zayed stadium with the kick-off times at 7.30pm.
Al Wahda meet Al Dhafra and Al Ain takes on Baniyas in the second round games on Tuesday. The third round games between Al Dahfra and Baniyas, and Al Ain versus Al Wahda slated for Friday.
The players, technical staff and officials will adhere to the strict Covid-19 protocols, safety and precautionary measures laid out by the organisers of the event.
His Excellency Talal Al Hashemi, ADSC’s Executive Director of the Sports Development Sector, affirmed the quadrangular is held with multiple objectives, including providing the technical and administrative staff with the opportunity to assess the players before the start of the season.
“The match takes place with all precautionary measures and all security and safety requirements of the Covid-19 and in line with the Football Association's protocol,” he said.
“We believe the quadrangular will provide the technical and administrative staff the opportunity to evaluate their players and assess the overall technical issues of the team in readiness for the new season.”
